Coleen Rooney was seen for the first time on Wednesday following claims that she is ‘missing her family terribly’ back in the UK, as she headed out to the gym in Washington.

The mother-of-four, 32, was all bundled up against the chilly December weather as she went makeup free for the casual outing.

It came after a source exclusively told MailOnline that Coleen was struggling without the support of her family back home as she recovers from a ‘testing time’ following husband Wayne’s arrest for public intoxication in the US.

Showing off her trim physique, Coleen was putting on a stylish display as she sported tight black leggings emblazoned with a skill alongside a cropped hoodie and trainers.

She was without her wedding ring for the occasion, but Coleen is known for always foregoing her ring when heading to exercise.

Keeping her brunette tresses hanging loose Coleen highlighted her flawless complexion with barely a scrap of makeup for the outing.

Moving on: The star has been adjusting to life in the US with her family, and has been recovering from a ‘testing time’ following husband Wayne’s arrest

This came after it was reported on Wednesday that Coleen is the support of her family back home ‘terribly’ as she recovers from a ‘testing time’ following husband Wayne’s arrest.

A source exclusively told MailOnline that while the WAG is happy to be supporting her husband, she is finding it difficult being separated from her family as she looks after her children.

They said: ‘They (the family) are happy there aside from Coleen missing her family terribly, as any mum with four young kids would when they’ve been used to that level of support.

Coleen is known for her close bond with her family, including mother Colette, who in the UK lived down the road from the family, meaning she was there to help with grandsons Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass when needed.

Devoted mum Coleen has been vocal about not wanting to hire nannies to help with the boys, with the source adding: ‘Coleen has always mothered the boys with no outside help and has been proud and happy to keep it in the family.’

This comes just days after it emerged the ex England captain was arrested by the American authorities for public intoxication and swearing only a month after his final England appearance against the USA, on December 16.

Commenting on the effect of Wayne’s arrest on the family, the source said: ‘Obviously the recent situation was a little testing, as it would be for any family, but Coleen let it go pretty quickly.’

Coleen recently returned to the UK for Christmas with Wayne and her children, and shared an adorable family photo to mark their homecoming.

She looked sensational in her snap as she showcased her svelte figure in a leopard print shirt and skinny jeans.

She beamed for the camera whilst clutching their youngest son nine-month-old Cass, whilst Wayne held onto two-year-old Kit.

Kai, nine and Klay, five looked adorable as they cuddled up to their mother for the sweet snap.

Previously speaking about relocating stateside, Coleen said: ‘It’s hard not being able to pop down the road – an eight-hour flight is a long distance. You can’t just nip over for a cup of tea.

‘It’s been a bit of a blur so far getting everything sorted. I am sure it will all sink in soon.’

The claims come amid reports from The Sun that the couple are pining for the comforts of home since moving to suburban Maryland.

Before the move across the pond, the family lived in a lavish mansion in Cheshire.

They were known for their glittering and varied social life, including nights out with friends in affluent Alderley Edge, trips to Soho Farmhouse and dinners with pals at acclaimed Chinese restaurant Wings in Manchester.

Now it was claimed the couple spend much more time at home in Bethesda, and are more likely to have a takeaway then go out.

A source told the website ‘Wayne and Coleen are really bored over there. She has no friends and is at home with their kids all the time.

‘They live in Maryland, which is really quiet, so if they do go out it’s bowling or cinema with the kids.’

‘They have a massive house and it’s beautiful but it’s not the exciting glamorous life she’s used to. She’s very homesick and misses her parents.’

The source claimed that when Wayne and Coleen travelled back to the UK at Christmas, they immediately went out with their friends for drinks, with a visit to Soho Farmhouse also undertaken.

It was also reported that Coleen volunteered at a school event in October in a bid to make friends in the US.

It was reported the couple had hoped to emulate the success of ‘Brand Beckham’ in the states, which saw David and Victoria Beckham’s fame skyrocket when he moved stateside to play for LA Galaxy.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for the couple for comment.

The claims come days after Wayne’s arrest for public intoxication and swearing at Washington’s Dulles International Airport on December 16 was revealed.

Wayne, who is currently serving a two-year drink-drive ban in the UK, had been on a short trip to Saudi Arabia before the latest drama unfolded.

Rooney was arrested by Washington police officer Cpl. J.A. Spina and charged with public intoxication and released on a personal recognizance bond – and court proceedings had been booked for January 24.

But they were dropped when the striker, who earns $2.78million (£2.18million) a year, paid a $25 (£19.65) fine with his credit card after he was released.

‘He accepted his guilt and that was one of the conditions of his release’ said a source.

He agreed to pay the fine before he was due to be brought before a court on January 24 and paid the fine in an online payment, it was revealed.

Under Virginian law, ‘profane swearing and intoxication in public’ is seen as a ‘class four misdemeanour’ – a minor crime, punishable in DC by a fine of up to $250 (£196).

While flying back to Washington, he took sleeping pills and consumed alcohol, his spokesman said, making him ‘disorientated’ upon arrival.

‘During the flight Wayne took a prescribed amount of sleeping tablets mixed with some alcohol consumption and consequently was disorientated on arrival,’ the spokesman said.

‘He was approached by police who arrested him on a minor misdemeanour charge.

‘He received a statutory automatic fine and was released shortly afterwards at the airport. The matter is now at an end.

‘Wayne would like to put on record his appreciation for the manner he was treated by all involved.’
