Newly-appointed James Bond director, Cary Fukunaga, is rumored to have purchased a penthouse at a 25-story condo in Soho. The New York Post first broke the news of the purchase, but since the penthouse was never officially listed on the market, and the sale hasn’t yet appeared in city records, we can’t confirm the sale.
The penthouse is located at the under-construction condo building at 570 Broome Street. The church-replacing condo was designed by Tahir Demircioglu of architecture firm Builtd, and features interiors by SOM.
Sales on the condo launched in October 2017 with apartments asking from $1.35 million. Several of the 54 condos at the building are already in contract, but of the ones available, prices range from $1.35 million and go up to $3.62 million, according to StreetEasy.
The building is notable for the cladding on its facade that acts as an air purifier. Read more about that here. Amenities at 570 Broome include a Peloton-equipped gym, a yoga studio, a residents lounge with a game room, and a landscaped outdoor terrace.
Aside from his new role as Bond director, Fukunaga is known for his critically-acclaimed work on films such as Sin Nombre, Beasts of No Nation, and Jane Eyre; and for the wildly-popular first season of True Detective, and the upcoming Netflix, Emma Stone-starrer, Maniac.
